Who we are
Enverdex is on a mission to simplify building retrofit and decarbonization.
We’re developing Praevion, an intelligent engine that leverages a novel hybrid machine learning/bayesian optimization framework to help building owners and cities identify retrofit strategies that work, not just in theory, but in practice.
We’re starting with a focus on multifamily buildings in Boston, using city regulations like BERDO as a launchpad for our optimization framework. Our current prototype can simulate and evaluate retrofit options for individual building energy models, balancing operational carbon, embodied carbon, and long-term cost forecasting.
This is just the beginning. As we grow, we’re building toward a scalable, one-stop shop for retrofit projects, ranging from straightforward energy efficiency upgrades to complex, phased decarbonization plans.

Co-Founder and CEO
Samira is an energy analyst and sustainability consultant with more than 15 years of experience helping project teams navigate the complexity of high-performance buildings. She founded enviENERGY Studio in 2016 after repeatedly seeing the same challenge across projects: critical energy and carbon decisions were happening too late in the design process, driving up costs and limiting impact.
Through her extensive experience with energy and carbon modeling tools, and research initiated in collaboration with Robert Donohue in 2024, they identified a critical gap in the industry: the need for an integrated platform that can identify the most cost-effective strategies for energy and carbon reduction within a faster yet reliable modeling timeline. Enverdex was developed to address this need.
Samira holds a Master of Science in Building Performance and Diagnostics from Carnegie Mellon University, a Master of Architecture, and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. To date, she has overseen sustainability consulting services for more than 10 million square feet of development nationwide. She has previously served on the USGBC Massachusetts Chapter Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Boston Architectural College.

Co-Founder & CTO
Robert Donohue is a data scientist and sustainability professional focused on building decarbonization. As Co-Founder & CTO of Enverdex, he leads development of Praevion, an optimization engine that helps building owners identify retrofit pathways that balance cost, carbon, and performance, and turns those tradeoffs into decision-ready recommendations.
His work sits at the intersection of applied machine learning and real-world building delivery: turning messy constraints (budgets, equipment options, policy pressure, constructability) into clear choices that teams can act on. Praevion is designed to help owners move beyond “one-size-fits-all” retrofits by surfacing portfolio-relevant strategies that are both technically credible and economically grounded.
He is also completing a Master’s in Data Science at Tufts University, with an emphasis on Bayesian methods, statistical modeling, and optimization. Visit Bob’s website: https://rfdonohue.io/
